The
Directory
The Directory gives you
links to a wide range of sites with some connection to the concept of 'Business'.
There's also a comprehensive set of links to help you find information through
Search Engines, Directories and other Internet tools. In the miscellaneous
section you'll find details of a number of sites to help you pass the time
(if you are in a 'looking for inspiration' mode) or even help you to relieve
stress. You can select a main section of the Directory by clicking on the
toolbar at the top. This toolbar will normally stay with you while you are
using the directory - if it disappears, use the browser 'return' button to
get back to the Directory. A table below shows the main sections of the Directory
together with the sub headings within each section.
If you have any ideas about adding sites (or detect any problems with those
we have listed) please mail us with details. Also mail us if you think we've
missed something in the site description or if you think we've got the rating
wrong.

We
look at and rate all the sites that we list. First we give a brief description
highlighting some of the particularly interesting or unique features of the
site. Then we give our two-part rating covering content and the use of web
technology to make the site more effective. Our rating scheme is defined below.
| Rating |
Content
|
| ***** | Excellent: good relevant information, kept up to date : visit it regularly |
| **** | Very good - lots of useful information |
| *** | Good - a few gems here |
| ** | Needs to try harder - some useful items, but either a very sparse site or contains a lot of dross |
| * | Poor : we do not list many of these; where we do, there must be some redeeming feature that merits at least a cursory look |

Use
of Web technology
|
| ^^^^^ | Excellent: uses the best techniques to make site attractive and effective for providing information |
| ^^^^ | Very good : clever use of the latest technology, interesting to look at but may not always really help. |
| ^^^ | Good : plain ordinary stuff but effectively used. |
| ^^ | Needs
to try harder : may be just like they did it in 1995 (the dawn of web
history) - can include the frame-based nightmares. |
| ^ | Oh dear
! : the 6 year-old from next door could have done this and may have a
used a background design based on a 1970s' Indian restaurant wallpaper
design. |
